Floating Shelves

Tonight my landlord came and put up two Ikea shelves for me! I think they look great and my living room is better for it! I just put up a few things on them for the photo but the decorating is not finalized yet.
On a totally different subject. I love nutella! I just bought some on the weekend and I forgot how good it is and I've convinced myself that is it good for me too! I just had some with a banana what a great bedtime snack! It is like eating the inside out of a purdys hedgehog and as much as you want.

Celebrate Good Times Come On...

WoooHooo. Last night I took in the "Celebration of lights." It was really fun and where we went over by Jericho beach was not too packed at all. We even found a log to sit on because I forgot the blanket in the car. It was Jan's first show and she loved it except where we were we couldn't hear the music too well. Next time I guess we'll bring our own radio. My favourite ones were these sparkling ones that looked like birds flying in formation. There are two or three more shows I think we may have to take in.

Memory Lane Cards and Scrapbooks

So I went to my first card making class at my friend Marys Store. It was so fun a learned how to make five new cards and bought some new tools to make my life easier when it comes to card making. It was so funny though we went for dinner before the class and Miriam (another friend from UBC) and I were completely matiching opposites both wearing last years jacob clothes.

It was pretty funny it looked like we totally planned it! We are barely touching in this picture because it was so hot last night and we had just walked from the restaurant.

Symphony In The Park

WOW! It was so amazing. Great sound and a great experience. It was my first symphony and I loved it maybe I should go more often it was held right near my house at Deer Lake Park. So I just walked over and met up with Glen, Bri and Ava and we all enjoyed our first show. Check out my movies for more photos.

Congrats Amanda and Julie

This was a pretty big week for two of my friends. Amanda, is now a Mom to a beautiful sweet baby girl. I know you will nurture an keep your baby well entertained with all those wacky faces only you can pull off. Also my Friend Julie got married in Pentiction to Matt. I wish you two all the best.

Here are some photo from my week. This is my little niece Ava wearing my shades and looking oh-so-cool. Glen and Bri and I had taco night this week. It was pretty tasty Bri made her famous Blueberry dessert and it was so good! I was secretly hoping she would make that dessert when she offered to make something.

This a photo I took of the ocean at Acadia Beach? I think it was called. I just was in the area on Friday and wanted to see Spanish Banks and Jericho beach so I just spent some time by myself chilling and doing my small group homework. It was a beautiful spot. I think I'll have to go there more often.. The wave come crashing into the shore there. I just can't get enough of the sights and the sounds.

These next two are Sarah Waters and I at the beach. We spent almost the whole day there it was so nice. I had to laugh though because I brought so much stuff! My chair, big blanket, two towels, munchies, water, two books, a magazine, ipod, sun screen, and of course my mac book. All Sarah brought was her purse, towel and book. She assured me that it was okay to pack alot and was grateful for a few of the extras I brought along. Ahh I am a packrat but at least I'm prepared.

Then in the evening I went out with Reish, Ben, Bec, Gene, Shauna, Ryan, and Devon. We just went out for drinks at Earls downtown. It was fun to see my girls as Reish, and Bec are traveling around BC for their work this summer so it was great that it worked out to have a night on the town.
So there is my weekend glimpse of what I've been up to. Chuck was really good today Darrell Johnson was preaching and it was such a good reminder about how the Holy Spirit is calling everyone and to watch Him work in the people around you, drawing them closer to Himself. It is good for me to hear because I want to do it all but I need to have my eyes open to see where He is working in and around my life.

The Burn

Ahhh it is 11:30pm I'm just finishing putting laundry away... getting the coffee set up for tomorrow and I realize that my back is warm. I guess it is the only spot I couldn't reach with the sunscreen. I guess next time I'll have to put it on with more care. Now I'll have a racer back all summer. Ahhhh well could be worse I'm just glad I did try to put some on even with the slack job I did.

Sunday Bike Trip

Today I woke up and saw how gorgeous it was outside and called up my cousin Jan to insist we go biking today! Of course she is always up for biking on Sunday afternoons so the plans were made. After Church we went for lunch at Sollys' a bagel place just down the street. They also have really good cinnamon buns! Then it was off to Jan's house to get our gear ready for the road. We decided to just bike from her house(Main and 35th ave) down Ontario to Science World along False Creek over to Stanley Park and around it then over the Burrard Street Bridge and to our favourite place JJ Bean on Granville Island and along the other side of False Creek and all the way up Ontario back to her house. I was kinda dreading the hill home the whole trip but it was totally do-able. It was the perfect weather for it. Sunny and warm but kinda overcast so we didn't get too hot. I had no idea that there was such a great walk way all along False Creek. Come try it out with me sometime all you out of towners.

Miriam's Birthday

This is a photo from Saturday night. We went out for my friend from work (UBC) The blonde in the middle. It was a really great night. It was so hilarious because there were 7 of us and we were all wearing black and white dresses... and it wasn't planned. I wouldn't put it past Miriam to plan us all dressing alike for her special day but this was just too funny. I had a strawberry pina colada and it was tasty. It was like a spiked strawberry milkshake. That was at dinner on West 4th at a place called Las Margaritas. Then we went out dancing at the Sand Bar on Granville Island. It was fun I miss hanging out with all my co workers from UBC we all got along so well. I hope at my new office I'll be able to gel a little more with the girls.

Note to self... Tips for riding the Sky Train

1. Never wear high heels even if they look really good with your outfit just in case after a long day when your feet are sore and you don't get a seat on the way home.
2. Never talk loudly on your cell phone or with your friends... Quietly is fine but there is a line!
3. Don't forget passbook and realize it at the station.
4. Bring a good book... But nothing with a crazy title otherwise the suspicious looks will come. Oh and don't get too carried away reading or you may miss your stop.
5. Bring lots of disinfectant wipes. To clean up before touching the car.
6. Make sure to get on the right train "Expo" line not "Millennium" line.
7. Always stay to the right on the escalator or you may get trampled in the mad dash to the platform.

Actually I am really enjoying the ride downtown everyday! It is nice to wake up and wind down with. Today I wore the heels and got on the wrong train and there were annoying people. So it wasn't the best today but on the whole I love it. Yesterday I almost missed my stop my book was so good I was reading and looked up a while after the doors opened and realized it was my stop and made a run for it. Today I went for lunch with my long time friend Monika. A friend I grew up with in Salmon Arm... turns out she works just down the street in another high rise. So it is kinda strange that us two country girl would end up in the same spot one day. Who would'a thunk it... but it true and it is really fun.

Boycotting Makeup

Yes it is true... It has just been so hot lately that I could care less about putting on any more layers than possible, even on my face. I've been living is skirts and tank tops for the past two weeks. I love summer though. Jan and I went biking all afternoon today. So I got some sun! We cycled down to deep cove in North Van from just after the second narrows bridge. It was a really good ride some hills but total do-able especially at our speed! We just take it all in and really enjoy the views along the way. It feels good to get out there and really take advantage of this amazing weather. I feel so blessed to have a little forced holiday. I'm the type to just go go go and this unemployment has really given me a chance to spend time with God, get out and exercise in the mornings which I love but don't usually make time for, and really make some great memories with friends and family out at the beach or at my place. I guess God just knows what we need when we need it.

Happy Canada Day

Yes, another Saturday at Granville Island! I just love that place. Actually Jan and I went and enjoyed the Vancouver International Jazz fest from three different locations we went and listened to a sextet at the roundhouse in Yaletown, then some Spanish guitar on Granville Island and then we headed to North Van and Went to the Capillano Suspension Bridge and saw some graduates from Cap College perform. They were our favourtie. I have a little clip in my movies if you want to see them. I can't believe the weather. It is so beautiful down here. I forgot how much I love summer and listening to live bands.
