Random Shots

So got my windshield fixed today got my first courtesy car. It was a SWIFT but it wasn't that swift. I tried stepping on the pedal with my lead foot it was really lame. Sorry to anyone out there that has this car! I loved the colour though.

Then I was at the mall and this ad made me laugh so I thought I would post it:)

Ava and Me

I was over at Glen and Bri's today and Bri was mentioning that Ava and I not only look alike but we do the same looks! What do you think twins years apart? It is so funny today I went for a walk with Ava and Glen to the store and this one person made comments about how cute Ava was and asked how old she was and made a comment to Glen that he has two women to look after now and looked at me. I just smiled and we carried on looking like couple with baby in tow. Little did that man know Glen actually has three women to look after; Bri, Ava and Me.

Weekdays off

I must be crazy because I must say I just don't really know what to do with my weekdays off. My dentist has been off hunting for moose so I have had part of last week and this whole week off. Luckily I work for a temp agency so I can still pay the bills. Friday I went to Ava's sing-a-long group at the Library. It was really fun. So many little ones interacting, laughing, crying, screaming, and clapping. Ava was into it at the beginning but then she had had a little too much interaction and her Mommy could tell she just wanted to have a nap at home. This is when I'm happy to have a weekday off to be able to spend time with Ava and Bri.

My plant is flowering! I think probably because I always forget to water it so it thinks it is dying and must reproduce. It is so pretty. I bought it when I lived in Kelwona and it was blooming when I bought it and this is the first time since. I guess once every two years.

I'm not sure if I have really pointy toes but in the last month I've poked holes in two of my favorite socks. The first one happened when I was crawling through Jungle Maina with Liam. Then just yesterday this pair went. I hate it because the other sock is perfectly fine but both must go. No mismatching here. Ahh well. I once knew this guy who would wear socks with HUGE holes and he still thought they had pleanty more use in them and would only wear the new socks I gave him on Sundays... maybe if I was lucky. It drove me nuts. I'm glad I can admit once there is a hole it is garbage.

So yeah I've had the day off today too. I've been baking and cooking and my favourite organizing my desk area. I could never get bored of that! I went to the Library. I'm looking for a good list of must reads. I got a The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy. I'm just finishing The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I just have started reading in the last couple years. I feel like I need to catch up to everyone that has been reading all this time. Let me know if you have any good suggestions or know of some masterlist out there that I can follow and cross of my list. Other than that I've been watching Dr. Phil and organizing order books for my new work and going through dental catalogues updating myself of new products. It has been a blast believe me. I'm not sure what it is about the fall that just makes me want the sip tea, read books, watch the tube and bake anything with cinnamon in it and cook stews.

Babies, Booze, & Ben

I'm aware these topics don't really go together but they do in my life. Monday night I went over to visit my niece, Ava. She is growing so much and just becoming a beautiful girl. She is making more and more attempts to communicate with all her swaks and coos. I can't wear my glasses anymore when I see her because her dexterity is so good she just grabs them right off my face.

Later on in the evening Glen, Bri and I went down to the Rugby Club for Bens 30th Birthday. I had the best belini I've ever had! It was just the right mix of bacardi and champagne and mango sweetness. I tried not to drink it too fast. Lucky Glen was driving.

After dinner there was cake and sparklers. I just don't know where the time goes. Most of my memories of Ben are of him in highschool about half his age now. Driving up to Silver Star with my Dad and Brothers to go boarding. We had to wait like 10 mins for him to finish brushing his teeth. He is the longest tooth brusher I know (coming from a dental assistant here, hey by all means that is great!) Those were the days of Spin Doctors (princess), Barenaked Ladies (this is me in grade nine album), and Blind Melon (dumptruck). Let the good times roll!

Happy Birthday Jan

Yesterday was Jan's Birthday. I love any occasion to celebrate. First I went to pick her up and take her out to dinner with Reish, Ben, and Becky. We went to this restaurant called Las Margaritas on West Fourth. The food was so good! Well actually we started with drinks which were equally tasty. Then we headed to our small group which was a small turnout but really good and we had lots of treats there. Carey made Jan a chocolate cake and I made Danish apple bars. Then we all met up back a Jans house to open a few presents and have some tea. Jan got that sweet eye mask from Bec we all tried it on... It felt amazing. Happy birthday Jan... I so glad you live down here and we can do so much of fun stuff together.

I guess I'm like Steve

My friend Amanda had a post about toothpaste the other day and I loved it. I realized her husband Steve and I are more alike in how we squeeze out the paste. I was in the shower today I had the littlest shard of soap I was finishing up. You can actually see what is left of it in the photo if you get out your magnifying glasses. I guess it was how I was raised. Especially how my Mom taught me to cook. Always follow the recipe... Always use a spatula to scrape out every last bit of the cake into the pan and clean off the beaters with a knife before you can lick them. Well I have made some changes now that I've been living on my own for five years. I don't always use a recipe but that is about it. I guess it is a good thing waste not want not right?

Mom's in town

My Mom decided to come down very last minute last weekend. It was fun. The crazy thing was, she was telling my Aunt who she drove down with that she would probably go for Thai food with Jan and I on Sunday and when I knew she was coming Jan and I were driving home from Bible study and thought my Mom might want go for Thai food so we totally planned it in advance. I had been wanting to try this Thai place downtown on Burrard for a while called Sala Thai. It was really good. The food was had was pad thai, red curry with beef and chicken and spinach with peanut sauce. The curry was the BEST ever. We are going back for the deep fried banana dessert one of these days.

The Salmon Arm Fair

Amy, and Sarah and I went to check out the fair this year... We wanted to take in the Shuswap Idol competition but we just kinda saw the awards being handed out. Ahh well the mini donuts were awesome!
